Somatic work looks at how your life experiences have shaped your system, how they're still alive in your body expressing through your patterns, and what you can actually do about it. Less thinking about what happened, more supporting your system to respond differently.
Your nervous system is activated, reactive, and it's exhausting. You're tired of the constant fight, flight, or freeze responses that keep showing up.
You feel stuck in a loop — unsure of what you actually want versus what your trauma patterns are driving you toward. You want clarity and forward movement.
The same relationship dynamics keep repeating. The same conflicts, the same triggers, the same way of shutting down. You're ready for something different.
You've been dissociating, shutting down, or just going through the motions. You want to feel alive in your body and in your life again.
We begin by grounding you in the present moment. Before we do anything else, I want to know how your system is right now. We talk about what brought you in, what you're carrying, and we establish a rapport. You're not here to perform or be "good enough" — you're here as you are.
I teach you about your nervous system — how it got the way it is, why your body does what it does, why everything your system is doing makes complete sense from a safety perspective. No blame, no judgment, just clarity. Understanding the mechanics helps you recognize patterns without being run by them.
We work with your body directly — tracking sensations, noticing what's held, and gently encouraging your nervous system to complete old patterns. This might involve gentle movement, touch interventions, or simply paying attention to what you feel. We're not forcing anything; we're just following the intelligence of your system.
Before we finish, we ground the shifts that happened. We resource you with tools you can actually use — somatic touchstones, ways to self-regulate when your nervous system gets activated. You leave with tangible practices, not just good feelings.
I can't fix you because you're not broken. My job is to hold space and resource you so you can access your own healing capacity. Dependency doesn't serve anyone.
If you keep coming back because you need me to manage your nervous system, I haven't done my job. The goal is for you to be so well-resourced that you don't need this extra support anymore.
Understanding alone doesn't shift the nervous system. We work with somatic practices, breathing, movement, and embodied awareness — things you can actually use to regulate and resource yourself in real time.
You have the right to understand your own system. No mystery, no gatekeeping. The more you know about how your nervous system works, the more choices you have.
There's a difference between understanding why something happened and letting it go. Understanding can lock you into the story. Letting go asks: what's next? We work toward that freedom.
Everything your nervous system is doing is geared toward safety and survival. It's not wrong. It just might need updating to create more freedom, more choice, more options in how you respond.

Having done a fair amount of my own mental excavation, I chose to work with Sophie after recognising that there was a lot of processing that still needed to happen within my body. I had been curious about somatic experiencing for a while, and my work with Sophie did not disappoint.
The depth of Sophie's knowledge and understanding of this work is what drew me to her in the first place. I felt she was someone that I could really learn from, and the depth of her training is evident in the work that she practices. I'm excited to keep working with Sophie!

Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented approach to trauma resolution. Instead of just talking about what happened, we work with the nervous system directly — tracking sensations, supporting the completion of incomplete survival responses, and helping your system come back to regulation.
It's based on the understanding that trauma gets stored in the body and nervous system, not just in memory. So we meet you in the body to do the actual work of healing.
No. You don't need to tell me the story of what happened or relive trauma in session. We work with your present experience — what you feel in your body right now, how your nervous system is organized, what patterns show up.
You have control over what you share. Sometimes a little context is helpful. Sometimes it's not necessary at all. The work happens through connection, not the story.
It depends on what you're working with and how you process. Some people come for 4-6 sessions and feel significant shifts. Others work longer-term. There's no set timeline.
What I do recommend is at least 3-4 sessions to notice real change. Your nervous system needs consistency to build new patterns. After a session or two, you'll have a better sense of what feels right for you.
Both work. In person allows for more somatic work — I can guide you through movement, offer grounding touch if appropriate, and be in the same physical space. Online is more convenient and can be just as effective for tracking sensations, breathing work, and nervous system regulation.
Choose based on what feels right for you. Some clients do both depending on the week.
Everyone's different. Some people feel deeply relaxed and grounded. Some feel energized and clear. Some feel tired because their nervous system is finally releasing what it's been bracing against. Some notice a shift in how they respond to situations over the next few days.
Occasionally, people have emotional releases or feel things more deeply for a day or two — that's your system processing and integrating. It's normal and it passes. I'll prepare you for what to expect.
